Asus ZenWatch 3 Smartwatch preview.
IFA 2016 in Berlin is just around the corner. Two weeks from now we’ll start seeing all kinds of exciting presentations of new gadgets. Rumours point to Asus revealing the third iteration in their smart watch lineup during the event.
The Asus Zenwatch 2 wasn’t the most exciting of smart watches despite the affordable price so the Taiwanese company surely has taken note of what consumer didn’t like that much. Recent FCC filings as well as leaks from the Chinese equivalent of the telecom regulator have showed us that the Asus ZenWatch 3 smart watch will have a round display which is the trend now for all smartwatches and a departure from the look of this particular brand.
What we also noticed in the photo leaks is that the device will have a three-button setting which sets it apart from most smart watches. The images also show a rather thick device with a two tone bronze colour and two pins for charging on the back which will be easily attached to a magnetic ring. The colour scheme looks rather interesting and solid but we’re going to have to experience the watch in real life to see how stylish or sporty it really is.
What specifications should we expect?
We don’t have much information about what the Asus Zenwatch 3 smartwatch packs under the hood, but the FCC filings did give us a few certainties: the device will support 802.11n WiFi and it will have Bluetooth 4.2 and a 5V 2A charger. The smartwatch will be made of stainless steel. The leaked photos also suggested that the watch will have detachable watch bands and it seems that you will be able to swap them to your liking without using tools.
We expect the watch to run the new Android Wear 2.0 which offers improved watch face customization, better fitness tracking and independent watch apps.
There are no info yet about the RAM and processor but usually, a drastic redesign of the look of the smartwatch should also bring improvements on the inside.
When to expect to know more?
There is no word yet from Asus on the official reveal of the smartwatch but they will have a presentation on August 31st and since their first Zenwatch was unveiled in Berlin two years ago we think it’s safe to assume that that’s when we will get to meet the Asus Zenwatch 3 smartwatch.
What are your thoughts about the new Asus smartwatch being round? Does it look more appealing to you than their previous two generations?
