GoPro Hero5 Black
GoPro fans have been treated to the rare experience of seeing the unveiling of GoPro Hero4 Black’s successor alongside the showing of the company’s Karma drone. The company CEO, Nick Goodman, highlighted the multiple features available in this latest release.
The biggest one is the camera has a waterproof feature. The user needs no additional housing to take marine pictures without the fear of damaging the camera; you can go as deep as 30 feet! Apart from this 4K video recording camera capturing still images at 12MP, it’s 2-inch touchscreen allows you to easily scroll preview shots.
With built-in GPS, it’s now possible to connect to other resources and achieve digital video stabilisation. Geolocation of videos and photos is also a possibility now. Apart from being fully compatible with the Karma drone, you get exclusive access to 30 mounts and other accessories.
Through the 3 built-in microphones, the new GoPro camera is equipped to execute a number of voice commands be they in English, French, German, Spanish or Italian. Audio soundtracks for your videos are of pristine selection.
Release date and price
The flagship GoPro Hero5 Black cam will be retailing at $399, $100 more than its smaller version. From 2nd October, both these devices will be available in stores.
Nikon’s KeyMission 360 and rugged action cams
Retailing at $499, this camera has two lenses, with each of them boasting of an impeccable f2.0 apertures that have 20MP sensors. All the stitching is done in-camera.
With shockproof of up to 6.6 feet and a waterproof resistance of 98 feet, you can go as deep as you want and worry less when it slips from your grasp. It works impeccably well even in 14 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures.
The other new cameras include KeyMission 80 and KeyMission 170, the latter retailing at $399. With its rounded rectangular body, the camera has f2.8 lens and an LCD display operated with 3 buttons. Its 8.3MP sensor can capture 4K UHD footage. It’s waterproof ability does not surpass 33 feet but its shockproof is at an impressive 6.6 feet. With additional housing, however, it will be waterproof to 131 feet!
All the 3 camera releases are slated for October.
Kodak 360-degree Camera
The Kodak Pixpro 4KVR360 cam has two 20MP sensors on the front and back. You no longer have to invest in a secondary device just to have your 360-degree shot! Connectivity to the mobile device of your choice is achieved through the camera’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi; NFC is also an option.
Its microSD card has ample storage of 128GB, enabling you to save a wealth of footage and easily access it. The in-camera stitching is at 15fps. Though the device being shown was not a finished model, the features are as specified and would only increase with time.
Expected release date
This new Kodak camera is set to be released early next year when it will be ready for shipping. Though a price tag is yet to be attached, it is expected to be anywhere between $350 and $500. Though a huge margin, there is a lot of details that are yet to be clarified.
