Google Pixel Buds Preview
Both Google Pixel 2, as well as Google Pixel 2 XL, do not have 3.5mm headphone jacks. This is because Google has designed a new pair of wireless earbuds, which are powered by Google Assistant. Google made the announcement at its hardware event that was held on 4th October 2017 in San Francisco.
The following are some of the key features of the recently availed Google Pixel Buds:
This pair of earphones looks very nice and proceeds with the premium design philosophy of the Pixel line. These pixel buds are entirely wireless because they have a fabric tether that connects a small portion that loops into the earpiece. There is an adjustable loop through the wire and this is located at the top of the earbuds to ensure that they stay in place. The loop size can be adjusted to allow for what best suits the ear size. They connect to the phone via Bluetooth but only supports Bluetooth 4.0.
The right earbud has touch controls that enable the use of the Google Assistant. All you have to do is to tap the right earbud and hold it to commence talking to the Google Assistant that responds to any query that is raised. It can send a message, read messages, read notifications, place a call, play a song and other things. The Google Assistant exhibits speedy responses.
The Pixel buds have three colour options i.e. Blue, Black and White. These are aesthetically appealing colours that consumers can select from.
Google Assistant works together with Google Translate for Instant translation. This feature supports up to 40 languages. However, the translation app has to be opened on the smartphone in order to listen to what is said by another person before the translation can be transmitted via the earbuds. The only translation limitation is that real-time translation only works with Pixel phones.
The sound from these balanced is loud and balanced. The sound quality is rich and offers a decent level of bass. This is despite the fact that they are semi-occluded i.e. do not completely seal the ear canal like is the case with a majority of corded wireless headphones.
On a single charge, the earbuds can last up to 5 hours of listening time. However, it has a charging case that significantly increases the listening time. The case utilizes pogo pins to charge the buds wirelessly. The case is equipped with a button that can be pressed to check the battery level of the earbuds while in the case.
These buds are compatible with all devices that support Bluetooth playback. However, it is best to use them with Pixel because of their ability to instantly pair with the new device.
The Google Pixel buds are superb from a fit and design point of view. They are a decent concept from Google and most suitable for people who fear losing separate wireless buds. The product is light in weight to promote portability and comfort when putting on. These are some of the features that make it a better product that you should try today.
